PETALING JAYA, 14TH DECEMBER 2022 – The fourth edition of Atap Design Awards (ADA) recently concluded, turning the spotlight on deserving and talented design firms that have exhibited creativity and excellence throughout the year. ADA is an annual award ceremony organized by Atap.co, Malaysia’s go-to platform for home renovation and improvement.

Cordially held at EQ Hotel Kuala Lumpur, a total of 135 prestigious awards were presented to various interior design firms spanning multiple Project Categories, including Best Residential Design, Best Luxury Design, Best Workspace Design, Best Café Design, as well as Best Public Space Design. ADA also announced 40 winners in several Studio Categories, such as ADA Rising Star Award, Prestige Achievement Award, and ADA Designer of the Year Award.

The Award, which had its inaugural edition in 2019, was established to celebrate outstanding professionals and empower upcoming design industry talent.

“We hope this recognition will further cultivate a culture of excellence and inspire up-and-coming designers to create something impactful. This year, we are honoring projects that represent more than just the style, but rather, a way of approaching design that takes into account the surrounding community for the biggest possible impact. Malaysia has an immense talent pool within this sector and demand is still growing. We hope this recognition gives them the boost they need to soar ahead,” shared Mr. Seow Yao Han Executive Director and Co-Founder of Atap. co.

The award recipients were selected by a jury panel of renowned industry experts such as Prof. Robert Powell, Nguyen Hoang Manh, Lin Ho, Robert Sukrachand, Olivia Collins. Submitted projects were nominated according to categories before the shortlisting process was carried out. The selection was based on the attributes of the overall design vision, aesthetics, functionality, innovation, and environmental sustainability.

ADA 2022 was hosted by Atap. co, in collaboration with Treo Merino by Shimlen Sdn Bhd, Tachitica and TOTO by W.Atelier Sdn Bhd, among many other supporting organizations in celebrating Malaysia’s most eminent design firms.

ADA Week 2022 opened with the ADA Designer Conference on the first day. The full-day conference succeeded in attracting 150 attendees. The conference featured topics from the international experts of the ADA judging panel including ‘Project Spotlight: Sky House in Ho Chi Minh City’ by the founder and principal architect of MIA Design Studio, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Manh and ‘Cross-Cultural Design: From New York to Chiangmai’ by Mr. Robert Sukrachand, a New York City and Chiang Mai-based furniture designer.

ADA Winning Projects Gallery Showcase & Appreciation Event marked the closing of ADA Week 2022 where ADA 2022 winners’ projects were displayed. In addition to the project’s exhibition, Atap. co also concluded ADA Week 2022 with award presentations for the People’s Choice Award, Best Young Designer Award, and Atap’s Picks – Product of The Year.
